10/17/2009 The Wind Beneath Your Wings This morning I was laying in bed and a blog idea I had some time ago kept running through my mind. I was waiting to write the blog because I felt I was missing a piece of the total idea. But this morning, the Holy Spirit gave me the missing piece and I just had to share it with you in the hope it would help and inspire you. So, here it is. Please seek the Lord on how you should apply the message to your life. I pray it blesses you! Have you ever hear the Bette Midler song, "Wind Beneath My Wings"? You can click the song title to read the lyrics, hear the song and watch the video. The song was featured in the movie "Beaches" starring Bette Midler, Barbara Hershey, et. al. It was a heartwarming, yet sad, story of two women who were friends from early childhood and it ends in the tragic death of one of the ladies and how the best friend becomes the guardian of the deceased lady's young daughter. "Beaches" is one of those movies you watch with girlfriends when you want to have a good cry. It's definitely a you better have a big box of tissues handy "chick flick". When this movie was popular, I was not saved yet and believed that a solid friendship with girlfriends was the closest relationship, besides marriage, that I could strive for. Now that I am saved, I know that my relationship with Jesus Christ is the ultimate relationship, and the most important friendship to maintain. This morning, the Holy Spirit helped me to see that on the surface Wind Beneath My Wings is a song about how one lady inspired the other lady and recognized that God brought her this blessed friendship. But, looking at it through saved eyes and hearing it with saved ears, it also is a great love song to God for the blessing of the Holy Spirit - the real Wind Beneath Our Wings! Can you see it?
If you feel as though you are flapping your wings as fast and hard as you can, but you are tired and your efforts are unfruitful, it's really time to let the Holy Spirit lead you! Remember this promise . . Isaiah 40:31: . . . those whose hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and they will not be faint. Stop flapping so hard, and let the Holy Spirit lead you. God gave us this great Helper to show us His plans and purpose for our lives and to guide us along the journey. Be still, listen for the voice of the Lord and open your heart to accept His will, plan and purpose for your life. And remember, when God blesses us with friendships that are of Him which are meant to help us to grow, to encourage and strengthen us, that we should always remember that our relationship with Him is the ultimate friendship, and that we should: Joshua 23:11: Be very careful to love the LORD your God. Father, we thank You for the blessing of the Holy Spirit which we received through the sacrifice of your Son Jesus Christ. We thank You that You sent us the Holy Spirit, Our Helper, to lead us and guide us in all truth. We pray that you open our ears to hear the leading of the Holy Spirit, and that You give us the strength to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us to accomplish your will and purpose in and through us here on the earth and in the spiritual realms. Help us to build a closer and deeper relationship with you each day. In Jesus Christ's precious name we pray. Amen. |
