Have you ever witnessed God's miracle working power? God is truly awesome and He performs miracles everyday! This weekend I witnessed two miracles. Giving a testimony to His miracle working power is such a blessing to me. Learn more . .
This weekend began like many others. I was looking forward to spending time with my husband at the beach, fellow shipping with friends, reading "The Fourth Dimension" by Dr. David Yonggi Cho and spending time listening for the still small voice of the Lord. Saturday was a completely blessed day. My husband and I spent the afternoon at the beach. We arrived by noon, set up our chairs and put on our tanning oil. Later, we took a walk on the beach and enjoyed a nice picnic lunch. At 3:30pm, my husband and I were a bit overheated from many hours resting in the hot summer sun, so I suggested we take a dip in the bay. The water was so cool, refreshing and invigorating! After our dip, we were ready for another hour of reading, listening for the Lord and relaxing on the shore. At 4:30pm, we headed home to shower and to get ready to meet good friends for dinner. At our friends' home, we built a castle in the forest with our God sons. Then, the adults climbed into the Gem car for dinner at Il Guardino, a renowned Italian restaurant at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. We preceded along Atlantic Avenue and stopped at the light at Laskin Road and Atlantic Avenue. We were joking, laughing and enjoying the warm afternoon sun and refreshing ocean breezes, when everything changed in the blink of an eye.
A young couple and their three children, one still in a stroller, decided to run across the stopped traffic on the busy street. One lane was open, and the Christian girl driving her sedan in the open lane had no idea that the young father would cross into the lane of traffic in front of her suddenly. She slammed on the brakes, leaving skid marks on the road. Then, we heard that unforgettable sound. An awful sound that made our skin crawl - the smack of the sedan's mirror on the father's shoulder. Then, the second "smack" as the car and the stroller collided. Her dad had attempted to push the little girl through traffic to the safety of the sidewalk, which seemed so close by. It was that quick - a blink of an eye. The wheels came off of the stroller. The little girl with the shoulder length curly, brown hair was tossed out of the stroller. The impact knocked her under a car idling at the stop light - just short of hitting the right tire with her sweet, round little face. In the blink of an eye, the lives of everyone witnessing the accident had changed forever. After a very brief moment of shock - the horror of the accident began to impact the witnesses. Some of the witnesses began to cry and tremble. Others walked in circles as they tried to compose themselves. And, the strongest and most composed called 911 as they calmly assured the dispatcher that the little girl was conscious, crying and still had all of her fingers and toes. The utter shock of what we had just witnessed profoundly affected everyone present and the 911 dispatcher. A nurse was among the witnesses. She examined the little girl before EMS arrived, and determined that she was OK. Except, she would not bend her knees and the little trickle of blood from her nose was a symptom of a possible concussion.
Later, we would learn that the young lady driving the car was a devout Christian. When she realized what had happened, she immediately went to the side of the father and child to see if they were OK - after that initial moment of shock. Everyone present was calm after they realized that beyond a few bruises, everyone was OK. There were no harmful accusations, and no blame (beyond the normal parental nerves). Everyone was calm and things were under control when EMS and the police arrived at the scene. We had all worked together under the watchful, guiding presence of the Lord. He was in our midst. It was unmistakable! The outcome could have been so tragic, and so much could have gone terribly wrong during and after the accident. But instead, God had shown us that He was in control and we had all become powerful witnesses to His miracle working power. The little girl with the curly, brown hair went to the hospital Saturday night. With the exception of a few scrapes and bruises, she was fine!! Praise God! I am so grateful that the Lord decided to snatch that little girl and her father from the hands of death to work a MIRACLE in our presence! *
Thank you Lord! Can we ever say thank you enough for All that you do for us?!!
