Review of Samantha Ryan Chandler's Book A LOVE STORY, HOW GOD PURSUED ME AND FOUND ME

Samanatha Ryan Chandler's book A LOVE STORY. HOW GOD PURSUED ME AND FOUND ME, is the story of how God showed up at her darkest moment, stayed by her side, drew her near to Him and ensured that it worked out for His glory and her good. 

At one point in our lives, many of us endure a situation that rattles our very soul. It's a situation where any resemblance of our "normal life" slips through our fingers, and the very essence of our value system is but a mist. There's no way to recover it - it simply slips away like sand through our fingers or mist that evaporates in the air. While the actual circumstances of this life shattering event are different for all, one thing remains - only God can put it all back together again. 

When a life shattering event occurs in the life of someone that has endured abuse, the effects are magnified. Anyone who has suffered abuse as a child knows that it's particularly harmful, and depending on the age of the child, its affects vary. Whether its physical, mental or sexual abuse, it completely alters the mindset and thought patterns of the victim even into adulthood. What some fail to realize is that abuse by a parent also affects the child's expectations and perceptions about who God is and what the child should expect in a relationship with Him. And, unless the child can come to accept that God is not an abuser, and that He can be trusted, that relationship will never fully develop. Abuse experienced as an adult can also change expectations of God.

When God begins to work in someone's heart, the perception of their relationship with God and the circumstances of their future in Him are transformed. He meets us in this desolate place and abundantly pours out His love, compassion, tender care, wisdom and assurance on us in a way that we are forever sealed to Him. When God repairs the shattered pieces of our lives and our hearts with His 'God Glue", we are transformed into a beautiful mosaic made in His image. Experiencing a life changing event can help us come to realize that God can be fully trusted. And, while the event is not pleasant, it is necessary in helping us to understand this facet of God's character.

Psalm 7:1 (KJV):  O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:

Psalm 51:12 (NKJV): Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
